Ana María Hawkins was born May 3rd in San Salvador, El Salvador. She was converted to the LDS church at the age of ten. In 1969 she came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, where she met her husband, Alan. Ana María graduated with a Bachelors degree in Spanish and a Masters degree in Spanish with an emphasis in Pedagogy. In 1973 she married Alan in the Provo Temple. She has seven children: Michael 25, Elizabeth 24, Carol 23, Mary 22, Jared 20, David 17 and John 15 yrs. old. She has 4 grandchildren and two on the way. Ana María loves teaching and has been involved with the Spanish Intensive Programs in Guadalajara, Ciudad Obregón and Guaymas, Mexico.
