Spanish Minor

  • Spanish 321
  • Spanish 339
  • Spanish 345 or 355
  • Spanish 441 or 451
  • Six (6) credits of electives for a total of 18 hours (Spanish 315 and above).

The total number of credits for the minor is 18 hours.  16-credit exam classes do not count toward the minor.  Internship credit (Span 199R/399R) and teaching methodology courses (Span 377/378/477) cannot be used as electives.  Only three credits of Spanish 480R will count toward the minor and no "D" credit is accepted toward a departmental minor. The advisement test has been temporarily suspended.  Students may declare the minor directly in the Humanities College Advisement Center located in 1175 JFSB.


Fall 2006 Spanish Minor Changes

STUDENTS MUST DECLARE MAJOR BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF FALL CLASSES TO BE UNDER OLD REQUIREMENTS

Starting Fall semester the Spanish Minor requirements will change to the following:

  • Spanish 321
  • Spanish 322
  • Spanish 339
  • Spanish 345 or 355
  • Spanish 441 or 451
  • Three (3) credits of electives for a total of 18 hours (Spanish 315 and above).

 

Spanish majors and minors should consider joining BYU's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society. Those students who have completed 60 hours of college credit, 18 hours of college Spanish (special credit exam hours may be counted), and either Spanish 339 or 345 (or 355), and who have a university GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to join. See department secretary for information regarding the initiation ceremonies held each semester.
