Spanish Language Publications

The Daily Press
Incredible resource. An online link to every major Spanish daily paper as well as several popular Spanish Magazines. Almost as good as a subscription.

España Hoy
A news page in Spanish. The articles are pretty good but the scope of this page is nothing like La Jornada.

Hispanic Online
The online version of Hispanic magazine. The magazine cover issues of interest to Spanish speakers in the U.S. A great source for current events and issues. Published in English.

La Jornada
La Jornada is a daily newspaper published out of Mexico City. The online version includes pictures, the news of Mexico, and cultural sections (sports, arts, etc.). This is a potential source of information for student research (it has a topical search page to give you info from past issues) or samples of professional Spanish prose for classroom use.

La Nación Online
Newspaper from Argentina.

ElCastellano.org

General Latin Culture Pages

Foreign Language and Culture Spanish Page
A page with links to several pages with a Hispanic theme. Most of these are pages with services for Hispanics in the U.S. But a few would serve as good cultural resources for student projects. The Latin Music Online Page, for example, has lots of info about the Latin Music scene in the U.S.

Goya Site
Information about the artist as well as samples of his work.

Instituto Cervantes

Instituto Latinoamericano de Museos
Lists the museums and parks throughout Latin America, country by country. The countries, in turn, are divided into regions or states.

La Navidad Latina

Latino Web This site is being re-done. Watch in case the site is moved.
An amazing site. "LatinoWeb's mission is to empower the Latino by providing a gateway on the Internet where private, non-profit and public sectors can exchange information." It has links to literally hundreds of sources for cultural information. General categories for information search include sports, education, arts, newspapers (there are lots of these), and even some personal pages.

Maps of the Americas
Topographical and political maps of American nations. A marvelous research and cultural presentation resource.

Mayaquest 2001
Builds on the theme of an archeological exploration into lost Mayan civilization. There are journal entries to read and sites for kids to explore to learn more about the Mayas.

Mexplaza
Most of this is commercial stuff that won't be too helpful but the classified ads might be a good source for "small c" cultural items.

Museo de las culturas Pre-hispánicas
Take a virtual tour of the museum of Pre-Hispanic culture in Guadalajara. The site is set up with graphics that simulate an actual walk through the museum. You have to take it all sequentially and the loading down can take some time, but it's fascinating just the same.

SMU Foreign Language and Technology Page
A site with links to wonderful cultural resources for Spain, Latin America, and Mexico. Covers art, sports, politics, foods, you name it, it's there.

The Salvador Dali Gallery
A specialty page designed as a sales forum for Dali's work but offering a few examples of his art.

UK Chile Heads Home Page

Universidad Nacional de La Plata
This is a fairly well-made site presented in Spanish and offering information about La Plata, Argentina.

UT-Lanic Home Pages
Fantastic site. Walking the World Wide Web calls it "the most complete library of Latin American studies on the Web." It has links to information pages on every Latin American country as well as a large topical search library for researching, say, Latin American cinema or Latin American music.
