Spanish Teaching Minor RequirementsSpanish 321, 326, 339, 345 or 355, 377, 378 (taken sequentially), 441 or 451, for a total of 21 upper division courses (Spanish 315 does not count toward a Teaching Minor). It is recommended that students who have not had foreign residence or who have not participated in a semester abroad program take Spanish 311R. No "D" credit is accepted toward a teaching minor. An oral proficiency evaluation is required for all teaching minors. To take the evaluation, students must enroll in Spanish 491. Note: Spanish 377, 378, and 380 are only offered during Fall and Winter semesters; they are not offered during Spring or Summer. Please plan accordingly. Spanish majors and minors should consider joining BYU's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society. Those students who have completed 60 hours of college credit, 18 hours of college Spanish (special credit exam hours may be counted), and either Spanish 339 or 345 (or 355), and who have a university GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to join. See department secretary for information regarding the initiation ceremonies held each semester. |
