The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is pleased to welcome Professor Michael Child! He earned both his BA and MA in Portuguese here at BYU and completed his PhD in second language acquisition and teaching from the University of Arizona. Following his graduate work in Arizona, he worked as an assistant professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands from 2014-2016, where he taught Portuguese and linguistics.
